Foundational Writing
  • ​Demonstrate understanding that a systematic, predictable relationship exists between written letters and spoken sounds; 
  • Read, spell, and/or write chains of one-syllable short vowel words in which one sound is added, substituted, or omitted, e.g., at>bat>bad>bid; 
  • Hold a writing utensil with a tripod (or pincer) grip and make marks on paper; and
  • Trace, copy, and write from memory the letters of the alphabet accurately in lowercase form.​

  • Speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly.

Revisit Informational and Opinion Writing using Lucy Calkins Units of Study.​

Lesson 3 (ongoing)
Instruct students on pushes and pull and motion using Stem Scopes and the text Motion. Instruction should include direct teach on comparing and contrasting two texts. Vocabulary should focus on push, pull, motion, force, gravity, inertia, gravity, and motion words (up and down, back and forth, around).
