Non-fiction Focus: Plant Growth Animals, Plants Humans and the Needs of Organisms
Students will focus on nonfiction text, exploring how humans can impact their environment, telling how people and events are connected.
Students will work on identifying the the different parts of a book, including the front cover, back cover and title page. Students will also be able to tell the difference between an author and illustrator and define their roles.
Students will tell the main topic of a text supported with important details.
Students will continue their work in narrative writing, focusing on what’s important, adding details, telling stories in sequence and writing strong endings that show feeling.
Students will name all upper and lowercase letters, find and say b/m/l sounds in simple words, name the most common sound for each consonant and decode simple CVC and nonsense words.
